ABOUT US

History

Lewes Workspace Ltd. was founded in 1985 by Gillian Harwood and her late partner, award winning architect, Philip Lancashire.  Gillian has been operating The Candlemakers, The Needlemakers and Star Brewery in Lewes since then.

Gillian and Philip, both renowned pioneers in the field of converting historic, industrial buildings, transformed it from its derelict, redundant state into the vibrant business hub it is today. Gillian remains very hands-on in the day to day running of Lewes Workspace, frequently offering free business and design advice to existing clients. Gillian’s business ethos has always been “to foster and grow small businesses by offering inexpensive, flexible workspace that offers a ‘home from home’ experience.”
